Description:
This snake has a long, narrow head, distinct from it's neck. It has a long, slender body and a whip-like tail. The Black Whipsnake is dark brown to reddish brown to black. Each scale has a darker coloured edge.
 
Size:
Adults 100 - 180 cm
 
Behaviour:
Nocturnal and active.
 
Prey:
Feeds mainly on lizards but has been recorded taking frogs.
 
Reproduction:
Females lay up to 20 eggs in a clutch.
